Internationally Renowned Guitarists Perform in Thornford
An afternoon of exceptional classical guitar music will take place at Thornford Village Hall on Saturday 18 April 2026 at 3:00pm, featuring the Serenata Guitar Trio joined by guest artist Dr Fernando Aguera.
The programme will include music from the Baroque era alongside Spanish and South American repertoire, as well as music from film, showcasing the rich colours and versatility of the classical guitar.
The Serenata Guitar Trio features Richard Mills, Cobie Smit, and John Mills, the latter widely regarded as a living legend of the classical guitar. John Mills has enjoyed an international career spanning over five decades, performing in more than 25 countries, broadcasting regularly on BBC Radio 2 and 3, and holding professorships at both the Royal Academy of Music and the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama. He made his London debut at the Wigmore Hall and studied with legendary figures including Andrés Segovia.
Joining the trio is Dr Fernando Aguera, an award-winning guitarist with an international background. He holds a PhD in Music from the State University of Campinas (Brazil) and a Master’s degree with Distinction from the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama. A former university lecturer and competition prize-winner in both the UK and Brazil, he is also known for his engaging performances of Latin American and classical repertoire.
This concert offers a rare opportunity to hear world-class guitarists in an intimate setting, bringing together experience, virtuosity, and a diverse and accessible programme.
