CRESS Open Garden fundraising event

0

The CRESS Garden Open is being held this year over the weekend of 11th – 12th September, each afternoon between 2.00-5.00pm at Knighton Manor, Broad Chalke.

Visitors pay a voluntary contribution to enjoy afternoon tea in the beautiful setting of Knighton Manor, including the opportunity to walk around the cutting flower gardens and the chance to browse various local craft stalls including art, painting, wood crafts, glassware, handmade jewellery, etc.

All donations made will raise valuable funds to support the work that CRESS does to improve the health and wellbeing of the South Sudanese refugees living in northern Uganda.

This year CRESS is specifically looking to raise funds towards the purchase of a 4×4 vehicle, costing ca £20,000, so that CRESS health support workers and fully trained Children’s Accelerated Trauma Training (CATT) counsellors can provide the range of clinical services to refugees living in the different refugee camps across northern Uganda. Without a 4×4 vehicle it is impossible to travel on the uneven and often deeply rutted roads to deliver necessary medicines and supplies to those in need.  For example, CRESS supplies antenatal classes and Mama Kits to improve the birth outcomes for pregnant mothers.

To find out more about how Cress supports the South Sudanese refugees to become more self-sufficient, please visit our website: https://cressuk.org/

We are delighted to announce that NFU Mutual Wessex is supporting the CRESS open garden fundraising event. NFU Mutual Wessex offers a wide range of personal and business insurance products serving customers from their local offices in Salisbury and Wareham. With a vast local knowledge and wealth of experience, the Wessex team take pride in offering a truly personal service and providing you with high quality products; giving you peace of mind in knowing that the things you care about are safe and secure. You can find out more about the NFU Mutual Wessex services here: https://www.nfumutual.co.uk/salisbury

Please come along and join us at the CRESS Open Garden in September.

Dorset Food & Arts Festival Market-lite

0

After a cautious but optimistic return to events – we’re pleased to tell you that the Dorset Food & Arts Festival Market-lite is BACK, this Saturday 7th August from 10-4.

Join us at The Great Field, Peverell Avenue, Poundbury.
Shopping in the fresh air – supporting local artisans and producers. Its a winning combination!

The Festival Market is FREE.

Plenty of parking nearby and its on the 10 & 10A bus route.

We shifted the festival location to the nearby Great Field to give us more space to operate safely. But look forward to returning to our natural home in Queen Mother Square next year!

The festival market will look and feel a bit different this year, as we have been advised to scale down, so there won’t be the usual cookery demonstrations or live music programme, but we’re hoping to have some ‘gentle’ busking to give the pop up shopping experience a bit of atmosphere.

Head over to the Dorset Food & Arts Festival -lite Facebook page https://lnkd.in/eZrMcFTg
for more details, including a full list of stallholders.

See you on Saturday. Bring your bags and a brolly…just in case!

This year, there will be three rings of dog classes: a Male ring, a Female ring and our ever-popular Dog Olympics. Rosettes will be awarded from 1st to 6th place and prizes will be available for the lucky winners.

Dog Show Sunday 1st August

Does your dog have dashing looks? Does their tail go bonkers when they are happy?! There will be a wide range of classes for you to enter on the day, including: Waggiest Tail, Child Handler, Best Rescue, Most Appealing Eyes and Golden Oldie.

The fun doesn’t stop there!

There will also be the opportunity for your four-legged friends to take part in the Have-a-go Agility, which is an activity for all abilities and a great favourite to get involved in.

If you think your dog can jump over hurdles in the fastest time, don’t miss out on giving our Haybale Hurdles a go. Super prizes to be won!

There’s even more to do…

Other attractions include seeing Liberty’s Birds of Prey, getting involved in bushcraft activities with Wessex Wilderness Skills, meeting some exotic animals with WorldLife, viewing incredible vintage cars from Dorset Car Club and experiencing a Police Dog search demonstration from PD Jeff, PD Rodney and TPD Loxley.

This event is as much a day out for our dogs as it is for you, so we have made sure that our four-legged friends will be well looked after throughout the day. Water bowls will be placed across the event site and we have a cool-down zone prepared, including paddling pools, wet towels and more.

Prizes to be won!

We are delighted to have many local stallholders joining us and a selection of refreshments to keep you energised and hydrated during the event. There will also be two live performances from Allsort’d and the opportunity to enter our classic tombola, with many prizes up for grabs!

Tickets for our Summer Raffle, Grand Draw and Hampers will be available to purchase throughout the event. Don’t forget to pop by and place your entries, to be in with a chance of winning some fantastic prizes. The tickets will be drawn on the day, so make sure you stay to find out if you are one of the lucky winners!

All money raised from the event will go towards helping the rescue animals in our care and it will be a wonderful opportunity to support a local charity and get involved in the community.
