DESCRIPTION:Set your alarm early and get ready to enjoy the dawn chorus at Bere Marsh Farm\, on our guided tour led by birding expert John Lockwood. \nImmerse yourself in the dawn chorus at the height of the bird breeding season\, whilst John helps you identify birdsong unique to each species. Our tour includes areas not open to the public\, and at this same event last year\, we were thrilled to record 25 bird species. \nAt the end of your walk and included in the ticket price of just £10 per person\, we’ll return to the Barn to enjoy a choice of hot beverages and freshly baked pastries from our Buzz Café.

DESCRIPTION:Upcycle lustrous sari silks and other fabrics to create a colourful coiled pot.\nThis 3 hour workshop will be held at The Art Shed\, my purpose built garden studio in the hilltop town of Shaftesbury\, Dorset.\nAll materials are provided and participants will create a textile pot to take home\, and lots of inspiration to make many more.\nPlaces are limited to 4 to facilitate individual tuition. Refreshments are provided.

SUMMARY:Discovering bats
DESCRIPTION:Let’s see how many bat species we can discover on this exciting bat walk at Bere Marsh Farm. \nLed by guest expert Mariko Whyte from the Dorset Bat Group\, you’ll get to use heterodyne bat detectors and learn lots of fascinating facts along the way from Mariko. \nWe have been monitoring bats at Bere Marsh Farm for several years to help us better understand this intriguing species. There are 18 bat species in the UK\, and we have routinely recorded 7 of these at Bere Marsh Farm to date. Advances in technology in recent times have made it easier for us to learn about these fascinating and secretive creatures of the night. \nOur walk takes place from 8pm-10pm\, an ideal time to see and hear bat activity. We will explore a variety of habitats on the farm including open fields and woodland margins. Who knows\, we may encounter a bat species not previously recorded at Bere Marsh Farm before.
