DESCRIPTION:The Villagers of Milton Abbas invite you to their 18th Century Street Fair Whatever the weather\, we hope you join in the fun of our Street Fair. We have tried to recreate the flavour of a country occasion using costume\, rural crafts\, entertainment and craft demonstrations. We expect to have a large number of stalls\, with food and drink venues throughout The Street and Lake Field. \nWe hope that you will join in the spirit of the day and spend your money freely in support of local good causes which also benefit the communities in the surrounding villages and our nominated external charity for this year. \nThe ancient town of Middleton was founded in 934AD and was clustered around the Benedictine Abbey\, nestling in the Delcombe Valley. King Athelstan\, grandson of Alfred the Great\, granted the old town a market and a fair. This fair took place on St Sampson’s Day. St Sampson was the patron saint of the ancient town and the Abbey. \nJoseph Damer\, Earl of Dorchester\, had this busy town removed in the 18th Century and in 1773 started to rebuild the present village in the next valley to make way for new landscaped estates\, including a lake on the site of the old town\, designed by Capability Brown.In 1973 the villagers recreated this country fair to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the building of the present day village. The Fair is on the last Saturday of July\, the nearest to the original St Sampson’s Day\, 28th July\, and is held every two years.The Milton Abbas Street Fair has now become an established event\, looked forward to by both residents and visitors alike. The 2025 Fair will be held on Saturday 26th July.

DESCRIPTION:Put it in your diary – Chettle Fete is back in 2022 with a bang!\n\nIt’s no accident that Chettle Village Fete has earned itself the title of Dorset’s Whackiest Fete – it is truly is bonkers.  As well as all the traditional favourites like cream teas & cakes\, pets corner\, face painting\, bouncy castle\, tombola\, plant sale\, book stall and bric-a-brac\, there’s also a healthy dose of loopy Chettle humour: the Alternative Dog Show presented by The Brigadier\, Miss Chettle Beauty Pageant presented by Raoul Bandana\, the amazing Art Auction\, the infamous Human Fruit Machine\, Cowpat Bingo\, Bang the Nail and you can place your bets for the Chettle Derby!\n\nThrow in a wide choice of fantastic\, quality food stalls (both meat and veggie)\, a fully-licensed and widely-stocked bar\, plus a Big Prize Raffle with prizes so enviable you’d be mad to miss it: past winners have enjoyed tickets to Wimbledon and West End productions\, well-known music festivals\, lavish beauty treatments\, fine dining and signed items from the likes of Terry Pratchett and Guy Richie. DESCRIPTION:This annual event continues to add new attractions! As well as BBQ\, bar\, Pimms and Prosecco\, tea and cakes we also have more than 20 stalls selling everything from plants to local honey\, bric a brac and gifts. A special attraction – for both children and adults – is Fiasco Circus Skills including juggling \, plate spinning – and much more! And of course\, the dog show and Temptation Alley will be in full swing for all you dog owners.Live music and entertainment throughout the afternoon and a visit from the local fire engine all add to the fun.\nOf course\, the famous MARSTON MAGNA DUCK RACE will kick off proceedings at 13:15 from The Mill in Rimpton Road.\nSee you all on the 18th June!
