SUMMARY:Conservation In Action - Behind the Scenes Tour
DESCRIPTION:Are you passionate about aviation and the stories behind historic aircraft? \nStep behind the scenes at the Fleet Air Arm Museum and discover how conservation specialists preserve the legacy of naval aviation for future generations. \nJoin the Museum’s Principal Conservator of Naval Aircraft\, David Morris\, on an exclusive ‘Conservation in Action’ tour — a unique opportunity to see firsthand the intricate work involved in restoring and preserving iconic Fleet Air Arm aircraft. \nThis two-hour experience begins with an in-depth presentation\, offering insight into the philosophy\, methods\, and decision-making processes behind major conservation projects. You’ll then be guided through the museum’s exhibition halls for a closer look at aircraft such as the WWII Corsair KD431\, where meticulous paint archaeology has revealed original wartime camouflage beneath layers applied in the 1960s. \nThe tour finishes with a tour of the exciting rebuild of the only surviving Fairey Barracuda\, DP872\, in the Arthur Kimberley Viewing Gallery. \nThursday 4 December at 10.30am \nTickets are £30 per person. \nTours strictly pre booked only and limited to 10 people maximum per tour. Museum Access is included on the day of your visit.
