SUMMARY:Craft Fair & Afternoon Teas
DESCRIPTION:Our increasingly popular Craft Fairs with Afternoon Tea at Sixpenny Handley Village Hall continue on Saturday 27 August from 11.00 am to 2.00 pm. \nThere will be various arts\, crafts and homemade produce stalls\, including wood turned products\, jewellery\, bags\, cards and many more. There will also be a spinning demonstration by our resident village crafter where you can learn how to spin simply using a stick! Children and adults will also have a chance to have a go at using a spindle. \nTo accompany your pot of tea or mug of coffee\, there will be a variety of freshly made sandwiches\, scones with jam and cream (or cream and jam if you prefer!) plus an array of delicious homemade cakes. \nWe are a friendly bunch of volunteers who are running this free event for all the family to raise funds for our village hall. So\, if you’re looking for something to do for a couple of hours on 27 August why not come along and join in the fun; we look forward to welcoming you to our hall. There’s plenty of parking and we are keeping our fingers crossed that the sun will shine so that you can enjoy your tea outside. \nWe are intending to continue to run these events monthly so if you are interested in having a table at a future event\, please do get in touch. DESCRIPTION:The charity event will take place at Milborne St Andrews Sports Pavilion. \nQuinfest is a family music festival in memory of Amy Quin to be held on 8/9th July 2022 ( Saturday as the main day ) to raise much needed funds for the Poole Hospital Charity and Marie Curie.\nQuinfest was formed in 2019 as a fund raiser for Brain Tumour Support who had given help to Amy\, Amy\, after she was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2016. Very sadly she lost her battle in 2020. The festival now carries on in memory of Amy and to raise money for cancer charities. \nThe fun will start at 11.30am. There will music through the day from bands and solo artists\, with dancing. It will be an ideally safe place for children who will have plenty to do and see and acres to run and play in. And for their Mums and Dads there will be traders and food and drink stalls. Camping will also be available for those who wish to make a weekend away from Friday night to Sunday morning. SUMMARY:The BIG Jubilee Picnic with Ben Waters & Band in Sixpenny Handley
DESCRIPTION:We plan to recreate a traditional community street party\, with trestle tables and chairs\, on the village cricket pitch. Seating on a first come\, first served basis but there will be plenty of space if you want to bring your own chairs and rugs. \nPop-up-Produce will provide pre-ordered picnic boxes for those who do not wish to bring their own and The Penny Tap will be open all afternoon serving liquid refreshments. Orders need to be placed by Friday 27 May. \nThere will be children’s and adult workshops as well as various other activities and stalls running during the afternoon. We will also be doing something a bit special to mark the 70th anniversary of the Queen’s reign. \nTo top it all off\, we are super excited to have booked boogie-woogie piano player Ben Waters and his band of top rock ‘n’ roll session musicians who will play from 3.00 – 5.00 pm. DESCRIPTION:Earth Day is a positive event\, celebrating what is already being done to help the environment and what we can do next! \nThere will be local groups\, sustainable sellers\, yummy food\, inspirational speakers\, fun activities and great music! \nSome of our activities include exotic animal handling\, mindfulness sessions\, crafts\, a solar workshop and much more! \nThere will also be a clothes swap too\, you are welcome to bring an item of clothing that can be re-loved by someone else! #ReduceReuseRecyle \nYou can also wear something green to show solidarity with the environment \nBe sure to bring a reusable coffee cup too if you’d like a hot drink. \nDorchester Town Council have created the event with our partners Bournemouth University\, Litter Free Dorset\, Dorset Climate Action Network\, The Embroidery Barn and PiPs Café.
