DESCRIPTION:The ideal activity to keep the kids entertained during the holidays: come and enjoy a free guided nature walk at beautiful Bere Marsh Farm and see how we carry out riverfly monitoring.\nLed by Nick Dobbs (CRT Community Engagement Officer and wildlife enthusiast)\, we’ll enjoy seeing a range of wildlife along our walk; birds\, butterflies\, insects and an opportunity to look under a selection of reptile survey tins. \nNext we will then walk back along the North Dorset Trailway stopping off at Barn Owl Barn (BOB) to learn some fascinating facts about these enigmatic birds of prey. \nWe’ll then meet up with CRT’s Jenny Ashdown and our Volunteers next to the Stour River who will describe the river fly monitoring survey they are undertaking. Over the six weekly sessions you will have the opportunity to explore what takes to be a dad\, learn about bonding and attachment\, strategies you can use to take care of your wellbeing\, how to communicate your concerns with your partner or trusted other\, techniques for soothing your baby. As well as having the opportunity to meet other dads and ask questions directly to a midwife. \nAs much as you want to be there for your partner\, it can be difficult juggling your needs\, your partners and this whole new person you helped bring into this world. \nDorPIP Dads is a place for any Dad in Dorset or surrounding areas to explore their fatherhood journey\, and learn skills\, tools and techniques to help them along the way. \nWhether you’re doing okay\, or would like a bit of support\, we welcome all Dads to attend our sessions from 19:00-20:30. DESCRIPTION:Our increasingly popular Craft Fairs with Afternoon Tea at Sixpenny Handley Village Hall continue on Saturday 27 August from 11.00 am to 2.00 pm. \nThere will be various arts\, crafts and homemade produce stalls\, including wood turned products\, jewellery\, bags\, cards and many more. There will also be a spinning demonstration by our resident village crafter where you can learn how to spin simply using a stick! Children and adults will also have a chance to have a go at using a spindle. \nTo accompany your pot of tea or mug of coffee\, there will be a variety of freshly made sandwiches\, scones with jam and cream (or cream and jam if you prefer!) plus an array of delicious homemade cakes. \nWe are a friendly bunch of volunteers who are running this free event for all the family to raise funds for our village hall. So\, if you’re looking for something to do for a couple of hours on 27 August why not come along and join in the fun; we look forward to welcoming you to our hall. There’s plenty of parking and we are keeping our fingers crossed that the sun will shine so that you can enjoy your tea outside. \nWe are intending to continue to run these events monthly so if you are interested in having a table at a future event\, please do get in touch. Cook up a stink as part of Rufus Skumskins O’Parsleys’ kitchen crew or bring a pot to bang and ward off evil cakes in this fun-filled\, messy performance about food which heads to Dorset through Artsreach this summer! \nChef Rufus Skumskins O’Parsley is famous for creating some of the world’s most disgusting dishes. You might know him from the award-winning children’s book The Rascally Cake\, written by Jeanne Willis and Korky Paul. Rufus went viral after baking a huge\, human-eating cake from ingredients including snot\, blubber and a cowpat. He only escaped being gobbled up by the gruesome gateau because he tasted awful – a result of his foul diet. For ten years now\, Rufus has been on a mission to make everyone taste bad and protect them from the creature he cooked up. \nJoin LAStheatre for a show that gently explores food provenance\, sustainability\, and healthy eating in a silly\, song-filled\, riotous performance for humans aged 5+. \nRunning time: 60mins no interval \n* Please note that this is an outdoor event – dress for all weather and bring your own chair/blanket to sit on.
