DESCRIPTION:b-side is an internationally recognised and locally loved arts organisation that both embodies and enriches its place of origin – the Isle of Portland in Dorset. \nThis year\, b-side Festival returns for their 2022 edition\, launching 15 brand new artworks under the theme of ‘Common Lands’ which invites visitors to explore their relationship to the unique landscape of Portland. \nTaking place across four days between September 8th-11th\, Portland will host both local and international artists who will take festival-goers on an experimental tour around this distinctive part of the UK\, exploring its history through their creative visions. From abseiling down Portland’s infamous cliffsides to a one-to-one poetry workshop\, to diving into an augmented reality artwork of mythical mermaids and taking part in print and banner-making workshops\, there’s something for all the family to enjoy. \nThe festival will also culminate in The Big Portland Parade\, where attendees will be invited to a joint celebration of Portland. United under the theme of ‘Keep Portland Weird\,’ attendees are encouraged to show off their most weird and wonderful outfits in a parade led by the local community\, volunteers and b-side artists. \nPlease visit our website to see the full programme of events held across the four-day festival.

DESCRIPTION:Our increasingly popular Craft Fairs with Afternoon Tea at Sixpenny Handley Village Hall continue on Saturday 27 August from 11.00 am to 2.00 pm. \nThere will be various arts\, crafts and homemade produce stalls\, including wood turned products\, jewellery\, bags\, cards and many more. There will also be a spinning demonstration by our resident village crafter where you can learn how to spin simply using a stick! Children and adults will also have a chance to have a go at using a spindle. \nTo accompany your pot of tea or mug of coffee\, there will be a variety of freshly made sandwiches\, scones with jam and cream (or cream and jam if you prefer!) plus an array of delicious homemade cakes. \nWe are a friendly bunch of volunteers who are running this free event for all the family to raise funds for our village hall. So\, if you’re looking for something to do for a couple of hours on 27 August why not come along and join in the fun; we look forward to welcoming you to our hall. There’s plenty of parking and we are keeping our fingers crossed that the sun will shine so that you can enjoy your tea outside. \nWe are intending to continue to run these events monthly so if you are interested in having a table at a future event\, please do get in touch. DESCRIPTION:Earth Day is a positive event\, celebrating what is already being done to help the environment and what we can do next! \nThere will be local groups\, sustainable sellers\, yummy food\, inspirational speakers\, fun activities and great music! \nSome of our activities include exotic animal handling\, mindfulness sessions\, crafts\, a solar workshop and much more! \nThere will also be a clothes swap too\, you are welcome to bring an item of clothing that can be re-loved by someone else! #ReduceReuseRecyle \nYou can also wear something green to show solidarity with the environment \nBe sure to bring a reusable coffee cup too if you’d like a hot drink. \nDorchester Town Council have created the event with our partners Bournemouth University\, Litter Free Dorset\, Dorset Climate Action Network\, The Embroidery Barn and PiPs Café.
