DESCRIPTION:Sturminster Choral Society with Palida Choir\npresent\nBenjamin Britten A Ceremony of Carols\nSaturday 10th December\, 7.30pm at St Mary’s Church\, Sturminster Newton\nBegin your 2-week countdown to Christmas with Sturminster Choral Society\, Shaftsbury’s Palida Choir and international harpist Kirsty Whatley performing A Ceremony of Carols by Benjamin Britten along with Christmas carols and other seasonal music.\nEdward Benjamin Britten was an English composer\, conductor\, and pianist. He was a central figure of 20th-century British music\, with a range of works including opera\, other vocal music\, orchestral and chamber pieces. His best-known works include the opera Peter Grimes\, War Requiem and The Young Persons Guide to the English Orchestra.\nThe Sturminster choir is conducted by Annemarie Lees and accompanied by Caroline D’Cruz on piano. Palida is an a cappella choir conducted by Karen Wimhurst.\nTickets £10 on the door or book on 01258 820755; festive refreshments included.
